While The Good Time Lounge has been in Denison, TX for many many years, it’s
been under it’s current management since June 1, 1988. Making it the oldest
continually run nightclub in Grayson County, Texas.
GTs is known locally as a gay club, but it’s really a “melting pot” of
open-minded individuals and a diverse cross-section of our greater community.
All are welcome. With Dance Floor, internet jukebox (by
TouchTunes), DJ with
contemporary music, Mixed Beverages, Beer, Wine and an Outdoor Patio, you can be
assured of a good time.
The Good Time Lounge is a Private Club with Memberships available.
Of course, the history of our venue goes back quite a ways. I'm currently
gathering information regarding the history of the building and land. I do know
the building and the land around it was once apart of Oak Farms Dairy well into
the 1950's. I can also tell you the bar was once named the Horseshoe Lounge
with, you guessed it, horseshoe pits in the back yard. Back then our little bar
was the national headquarters of the 'Scorpions,' biker group. I hear that back
then it was once a pretty rough place to hang out.
More recently, Jerry Harvey purchased the building and club on June 1, 1988. He
had owned the 'Roaring Twenties' Restaurant in the historic Denison Hotel. And
had other businesses in his past in the Los Angeles, CA Area. The Good Time
Lounge was his first nightclub. During his ownership of our bar, he also ran
the local Joe's Bar downtown for just over a year, owned TexHoma Roofing for 12
years and is current owner/operator of
Sister Act Cleaning, Inc / Sister
Act Party Planning. If your interested in having your home cleaned, or
utilizing one of Sister Act's other services, while your at the lounge be sure
and buy him a drink (J&B and water) and ask about the company’s free estimates.
January 16, 1990 was an invitation only party, and The Good Time Lounge's first night catering to a gay clientele. Now the lounge offers a casual laid back atmosphere for locals and tourist to the beautiful Lake Texoma Area. The Good Time Lounge serves as an anchor for the local gay community and is the only local club between the OKC and DFW Areas. And we proudly support our local Aids Resource Center, the Callie Clinic Food Pantry.
