History
Of course,
the history of the venue
goes back quite aways.
I'm hoping to have the history of the building
researched in the upcoming
months. I do know the building and the
land around it was once apart of Oak Farms Dairy well into the
1950's.
I can also tell you the bar was once named the Horseshoe Lounge with
you
guessed it, horseshoe pits in the back yard. Back then our little
bar was the national headquarters of the 'Scorpions,' a biker
group.
I hear it was once a pretty rough place to hang out at.
More recently, Jerry
Harvey
purchased
the building and club on June 1, 1988. He had owned the 'Roaring
Twenties' Restaurant in the historic Denison Hotel. And had other
businesses in his past in the Los Angeles Area. The Good Time
Lounge
was his first nightclub. During his ownership of the bar, he also
ran the local Joe's Bar downtown for just over a year. And
currently
has TexHoma Roofing and Sister Act Cleaning, Inc. If you need a
roof, or
your home cleaned, while your at the lounge, be sure and buy him a
drink
(J&B and water) and ask for a free estimate.
January 16, 1990 was an invitation
only party, and the
The Good Time Lounge's first night as a gay club.
Now
the lounge offers a casual laid back atmosphere for
locals and tourist
to the beautiful Lake Texoma Area.
The Good Time Lounge serves as
an anchor for the local
gay community and proudly supports our local Aids
Resource Center of Texoma (ARCOT). GT's the only
real alternative bar in the
Texoma area.
